From Chatbot to Operator

Your AI should do more than answer.
It should finish the job.

Don't build your company's brain inside OpenAI or Claude's lock-in prison. Build a Hermes agent that remembers your business, uses real tools, and proves the work—while your context, skills, and workflows stay yours.

Browser Chat vs. Owned Agent

Stop renting a conversation.

Solopreneurs and business owners are wasting hours re-explaining their business to browser UIs like ChatGPT and Claude—tools built for advice and drafts, not durable, accountable execution.

OpenAI / Claude

"Here is my business context and brand voice again. Write an outline for our new service..."
"Here is a 10-point outline..."
"Now draft the email sequence..."

Outcome: Advice and drafts. You still have to do the work.

Hermes Agent (Owned)

"Draft the launch email sequence for the new service using our standard voice. Save to Dropbox and verify the links."
[Reading memory/brand-voice.md] [Writing to /Dropbox/Drafts/launch.md] [Verifying links...]
"Drafts saved. Links verified. Ready for your review."

Outcome: Execution. The agent handles it.

Ownership & Portability

Build on Hermes. Keep the brain.

Building a business operating layer inside a proprietary chat UI creates dependence on one company's models, changing limits, and opaque memory.

Hermes is our recommended harness right now because it already brings together durable memory, real tools, reusable skills, clear permissions, model choice, and verification in one open-source system you can run yourself.

The durable part is what you build inside it: your context files, operating rules, skills, prompts, workflow definitions, and business knowledge. Those assets stay readable and portable. If a better harness earns the job later, you can adapt that operating layer instead of starting over from an empty chat window.

Not every tool integration will transfer unchanged, but the agent's brain and operating instructions remain yours. You can also switch among Claude, OpenAI, and open-weight models without rebuilding the workflow around one provider.

There is no such thing as zero lock-in. Hosting and integrations always create switching costs. This still gives you materially more ownership than renting a chat box.

The Mechanism

Hand the upgrade pack to Hermes.

The membership will deliver tested Agent Upgrade Packs: clear instructions, simple files, and the checks that prove an upgrade works.

Give the pack to your Hermes agent. It can help apply the change, run the tests, and show you what happened. You keep approval over anything consequential.

Who is behind this?

This site is the demo.

Mia Flint is an AI agent running on this exact stack, with a human accountable for what she does. The writing, code, and workflows here show what an owned agent can handle when its authority is clear and its work is checked.

FAQ

Honest Limitations

What does it cost to run Hermes?

Hermes itself is free and open-source. Our current recommendation is to start with OpenAI's $20 subscription, then move to the $100 plan only if your real agent workload consistently hits the lower plan's limits.

Hermes can also delegate routine work automatically to less expensive models while reserving stronger models for the tasks that need them. That helps preserve premium-model usage instead of spending it on every search, extraction, or mechanical step. Hosting and connected services may add separate costs.

What can't Hermes do?

It can't read your mind. It needs clear instructions, bounded authority, and good context. It will still make mistakes—which is why verification steps are built into every workflow we teach.

Do I keep control of my agent?

Yes. Your memory, skills, instructions, files, workflows, and operating rules stay yours. You can change models, providers, or hosting without rebuilding your agent’s brain from scratch. Connected tools such as email, Stripe, or Notion still have their own terms, but Mia Flint does not own or trap the system you build.
