Install into Hermes

Two ways. Pick whichever your Hermes supports.

Path A · Drop into Hermes

Drag the three .md files into a Hermes chat, then send this instruction:

Install this identity pack into my active Hermes profile. Back up any existing SOUL.md and USER.md first, install and read back the new files, then tell me which restart is required. Ask before restarting a running gateway.

Hermes should confirm the target profile and backup location before replacing existing identity files. Uploading alone does not change your installation.

Path B · Manual install

For the default profile, run this after the files finish downloading:

Named profiles live under ~/.hermes/profiles/<name>/; use Path A if you are unsure which profile is active. START-HERE.md is the guide, not an identity file Hermes must load.

Restart Hermes (required)

SOUL.md and USER.md load at session start. Hermes keeps using the old contract until the process restarts. Run the command that matches how Hermes is supervised on this machine:

Confirm the restart landed by asking Hermes: “Read the active profile’s SOUL.md and USER.md back to me and state their exact paths.” If it cannot find the files, re-check Path A or B.
